Summer Wildflowers of the Kankakee Valley Region

This section is being updated while new photographs are being added.

Chuck Smead, a biologist and board member of the Kankakee River Valley Forest Preserve District, and Morton Arboretum botanist Floyd Swink surveyed the plants of the Aroma Forest Preserve.  The presence of many species of plants at this site provides habitat for many species of moths, butterflies and birds.  Floyd Swink, together with Gerould Wilhelm, wrote the book, "Plants of the Chicago Region".

The letter "N" designates a native species; A means the plant is introduced
