Unless otherwise stated, our programs meet at the Forest Preserve Educational Center and Administrative Office at Shannon Bayou  3301 Waldron Road, Aroma Park, Illinois

KRVFPD Announces Dates for New Fall Programs

  • Saturday, September 10, Outdoor Skills Program 4-5 followed by hike 5-6:30pm,  Hieland Lakes Nature Preserve, 6692 Route 17 East, St. Anne.  

  • Saturday, October 22, Outdoor Skills Program 3-4 followed by hike 4-5:30pm, Aroma Land and Water Reserve, 1578 South Hieland Road, St. Anne

  • Saturday, November 12, Outdoor Skills Program 1:30-2:30 followed by hike 2:30-4:00pm, inside then outside Shannon Bayou Environmental Education Center, 3301 Waldron Road, Aroma Park

  • Saturday, December 3, Outdoor Skills Program 1-2:00pm followed by hike 2:00-3:30pm, inside then outside Shannon Bayou Environmental Education Center, 3301 Waldron Road, Aroma Park

A Morning That's Gone to the BATS

Come learn why we should encourage bats in our backyard. This is a Family Day at Shannon Bayou, with activities for the whole family. Learn how a baby bat finds its mother, why bats are heroes of the night and how echo-location works.

A Morning That's Gone to the Bats will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:00 am. The program will be presented at the Shannon Bayou, 3301 Waldron Rd., Aroma Park, Illinois.

Pre-registration is required by October 22, 2022. Please register at the link listed below. There is no fee for this event. Space is limited to 20 attendees. Contact Holly Froning at froning@illinois.edu with any questions.
